Meet Watermela!

We finally got to see her face and will be able to give her a real name (which hasnt been decided yet 100%).
Monday I had a feeling it would be very soon that we would get the call. Tuesday I woke up knowing it was THE day. Mothers intuition I guess. I was physically ill. Nausea, belly and back aches, couldnt get comfy. Almost like labor. :)
At 930pm on Tuesday 8/7 we got the call from our agency. Both Jim and I rushing to the phone seeing FTC (our agency) on caller ID. Picking up at the same time leaving neither of us able to hear for a minute or so (our phones are weird and you can not conference on the 2 we picked up).

She was born July 26th approx 1 month early weighing 5lbs and 17 inches long. Shes looking very healthy though and alert. Our 2 boys were born early so no surprise our daughter was too. We got lots of photos but heres just a few of her at 8 days old.

Getting closer

There were suddenly quite a few girl referrals with our agency so we are moving much closer. We are still hoping to hear something by our vacation in August and it seems much more possible now!

Week 4

Of a probable 12 week wait for a referral. I find myself moody at times. I know many have not gone thru this experience before and are unsure of how to support us. We are just as excited as if I was in my third trimester of pregnancy. We know our daughter will be arriving soon. We are planning her room, talking about names, buying a few things. I know for many this will not be real until they see her photo or when she is home. But as adoptive moms will say, the child is born in their heart instead of in their belly. We dont know what she looks like yet but we still can not wait to meet her. To us she isnt any less real just because I cant feel her kicking or because we havent seen her on an ultrasound.
There was an interview on the radio recently and a lesbian couple expecting their first child said something that really has stuck with me.
...We will not hide our excitement just because others may not understand or are uncomfortable with what we are doing...
Jim and I very much feel the same way.
